In this video we will learn how to Install the Enterprise license version of Graylog 3.0+.
Installing the plugins
As you log on to the interface, you will see there’s no Enterprise section. We need to activate it first by hopping back into the console and installing a couple of packages.
The first package you need to install is the aptly named Graylog Enterprise plugins. Just run the command to install it, and once you’re finished, move to the next one, the Integration plugins. The Integration plugin has additional modules for collection methods like Palo Alto and output plugins for sending emails or kicking off a script that you may want to install.
After you installed both plugins, restart Graylog so that it may see that both files have now been uploaded into the system. Now tail the log file to understand when the Graylog server is up and running and once it is, you can go back to the web interface.
Activating Your Enterprise License
Once you’re back in the Graylog’s web interface, refresh it to restart it and launch the Enterprise edition. Now you will see that there’s an Enterprise section available in the nav bar menus. Open the drop-down menu and click on the “Licensing” tab to open this new section. This page is where you can enter your Graylog license number – as you can see there are no licenses installed, yet.
However, you will see a cluster ID number, that is unique to every install of Graylog. Just copy it for now. Log off and go to Graylog.org to request your license. Click on the big, red “Get Graylog” button, or just navigate to the downloads section. A free license can handle up to five gigabytes of traffic per day, so you can grab one of these for now. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and fill out the form with all the necessary information (your name, the company you’re with, your email, etc.). Please use a valid email address, or we won’t be able to send you your license.
Now, it’s time to paste the cluster ID number that you copied earlier on, and then click on the “Get your free license” button at the bottom of the form. We will send you an automatically generated email in a couple of seconds with a text file attached. Open this file, and copy the code. Get back to the “Licensing” section, and click on green button on the top right part of the screen “Import new license” to paste your license key. This key will last for one full year, as you can see in the “Expiration date” field.
