2024 was a thrilling year for Graylog Capture The Flag (CTF) events! Across major cybersecurity conferences, Graylog invited participants to test their skills in a range of challenging scenarios designed to simulate real-world cyber threats. From North America to Europe and beyond, we saw cybersecurity professionals and enthusiasts go head-to-head in Graylog CTFs, flexing their skills, deepening their knowledge, and having fun along the way. Here’s a look at the standout moments and achievements from our CTF events this year!
Graylog “Logs In The Shell” CTF Highlights from 2024
Our team hit the ground running in 2024, bringing Graylog CTFs to a diverse range of conferences. Here’s a rundown of where we were, the fantastic communities we met, and the unique character each event brought to our CTF challenges.
- BsidesCHARM
At BsidesCharm, the industry’s top experts joined Graylog’s CTF for a competitive edge, showcasing deep technical acumen in our advanced threat scenarios. - DEFCON
Graylog’s presence at DEFCON attracted a huge crowd of cyber enthusiasts. Known for its hardcore hacker culture, DEFCON brought some of the fiercest competition we have seen all year. A first ever perfect score was recorded at this event! - BlueTeamCon
This year’s BlueTeamCon brought out the best. Graylog’s CTF challenges encouraged participants to get into simulated threat landscapes. - OpenSearchCon
Attending OpenSearchCon saw a group capitalize on the access to Graylog and learn! - Hackfest Quebec
The Graylog CTF had an amazing reception in old Quebec City!! An amazing vibe and atmosphere with a live DJ and a soundboard playing sound bites: “New Challenger!” “First Blood!” - Graylog Go
At the Graylog Go User Conference, a first-time competitor in a CTF was the recorded winner! - MISA InfoSec
The CTF at the Municipal Information Security Association took skills to a new level, with many competitors learning how to use Graylog and solve challenges.
CTF Stats and Participants
One of the best parts of running CTFs is seeing the enthusiasm and dedication of participants worldwide. Here’s a snapshot of the year by the numbers:
- Total Participants: In 2024, over 480 cybersecurity enthusiasts and professionals, spanning a variety of skill levels and backgrounds, joined Graylog CTFs.
- Global Reach: Graylog CTFs saw competitors from 18 countries and 103 cities, reflecting a broad and diverse international interest in Graylog’s approach to cybersecurity.
- Highest Attendance: DEFCON and BSidesCharm were the highest attended participation this year!
Looking Forward to 2025
With such a successful year behind us, we’re already planning things for Graylog CTFs in 2025. Our team is hard at work designing new challenges, expanding our reach, and creating opportunities for even more participants to join in. If you missed this year’s events, stay tuned for 2025.
